The hotel is in a special historic building on a tree-lined boulevard, with simple yet beautiful rooms – tasteful, not extravagant. It features an elegant bar, and an excellent restaurant – currently hosting the Basque restaurant El Pimiento Verde (when we visited the hotel in 2018, it was a Galician restaurant, also delicious).
Totem is located in the elegant Salamanca Neighborhood, just north of El Retiro park. Salamanca is an upscale quiet area, and we like it for being close enough to the touristic center, but calm – tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the Gran Via.
